Fishing For Plumb Bobs

Did anyone else have to 'go fishing' for plumb-bobs or was it just me? Pete had this specially-rigged plumb-bob with a treble hook brazed onto the end of it and whenever we werent too busy he'd hand that and a sounding tape to me and tell me to 'go fishing'.
